Contestant of Indian Idol 2006 now known to be as the Bollywood’s new playback queen, the Bengali girl Antara Mitra is ecstatic about her latest hit Saari ke fall sa from R.. Rajkumar. “I am very happy with the success of this song as it is topping the charts,” says the playback singer, Antara. Speaking to Metrolife about her upcoming flicks, highs and lows of her journey and life, she reveals her dreams.

“I want to sing a romantic track written by Gulzaar sir”, says the small town girl from Bengal who has the desire to work with the all-time great lyricist. Talking about the most memorable moment of her life, the vocalist mentions, it was a dream come true “When people started calling me a playback singer after my song Bheegi si Bhaagi si from Rajneeti.”says, “I love music and having a career in the same field is just awesome. My dream has come true. I did the best in what I believe in. Ups and downs are a part of our journey but I am happy to be here. Right now, I am enjoying my life and having fun.”

Being a professional singer now, the songstress dismisses any turnaround in her life, saying, “My life didn’t change much. I want to be as rooted as possible. The only change in my life is that I stay away from my family. As a person I am the same,” expresses Antara.

“I am coming up with singles,” says the 26-year-old, opting not to act for now. But she adds, “Whenever I find an appropriate role, I would love to do that.”

Antara who herself found prominence through a reality show, disapproves the sentiment that these shows are doing more harm than good. She explains, “No, I don’t think so. In fact it’s a great platform to get success. But its not interesting to have seasons running frequently, one after another as it gets repetitive for the audience.”

“Making life in music is uncertain. You should be good enough to get there. Knowing your limit in every circumstance is necessary,” signs off the singer saying one can always balance one’s studies and passion, together.
