JD(S) to launch 'Save Karnataka' campaign

 Opposition Leader H D Kumaraswamy said, the JD(S) would contest independently, without having a truck with other parties in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and the list of candidates will be announced in a couple of days.

Addressing mediapersons, here, on Sunday, he said, the party will issue two tickets to minorities and three to women to contest the polls. Priority will be given to backward communities and youth. The party’s national president H D Deve Gowda will announce the list, he added.

Answering a query on whether ticket will be given to national general secretary Zafrulla Khan in Mandya, he said, there are four competent candidates, including Khan, and one among them would be selected.

While the BJP is facing the election with a ‘Save India’ (Bharatha Ulisi) campaign, we will meet the voters with a ‘Save Karnataka’ (Karnataka Ulisi) campaign, he added.

Convention

There are plans to hold women, youth and farmers’ conventions in view of the Lok Sabha polls to strengthen the party from the grassroots level.

Women’s convention will be held in Tumkur on January 22, Youth convention at Bangalore Palace grounds on January 29 and Farmers convention in Raichur on February 9.

The Third Front convention (Tritiya Ranga) will be held in the second week of February in Bangalore, he explained.

Legislators N Chaluvarayaswamy, B Ramakrishna, Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda, former MLAs C S Puttaraju and G B Shivakumar and others were present.
