Cable TV operator stabbed to death by friends

A cable TV operator and a tenthouse owner were murdered in separate incidents in the City.

The cable operator was stabbed to death by his friends following an altercation at Byrappa Block in Thyagaraja Nagar on Monday night. The deceased Puneeth Kumar, 25, was a resident of the same block.

Police said that at around 9 pm, Kumar was having tea at a bakery when his friends Ravi, Abhi and Dinesh picked a quarrel with him, took out a knife and stabbed him in the abdomen before fleeing.

Police said an injured Kumar managed to ride back home on his bike and was rushed to a nearby private hospital. He was later shifted to Victoria Hospital where he died late in the night.

Thyagarajanagar police have registered a case and have launched a manhunt for the suspects. Investigations have revealed that Ravi, Abhi and Dinesh were friends of Kumar and they had developed differences over some issue, a couple of days ago. Police suspect that the three might have hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Kumar as a revenge.

In another incident, a tenthouse owner was found murdered at an open farmland on Kaggalipura Main Road near Bannerghatta early Tuesday morning. Local residents found an abandoned sports utility vehicle at the farmland and the body of a man lying close by with his throat slit. The deceased was later identified as Rajanna alias Gidda Rajanna, 55, a resident of Kariyappanahalli.

Rajanna was running a tenthouse in Bannerghatta. He was also into money-lending and real estate business. On Monday, when he did not return home even by late evening, his family members called him on his mobile phone.

Police said Rajanna answered the call and told the family that he was in a neighbouring village and would return soon.

However, he never came back and was found murdered on Tuesday morning.
Bannerghatta police are investigating the case.
