The bad boy of Dabangg, Sonu Sood, is turning over a new leaf. Looking fitter than ever before, he now sports a well-toned body.

He has been in the film industry for more than a decade now and has dipped his fingers into every conceivable role. And he continues to grab meaty roles. How? He attributes it to his passion for the craft of acting and commitment to the task in hand.
Sonu has a substantial role in ‘Happy New Year’ with actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika in the lead roles. Sharing his experience of working in the film, Sonu says, “It’s great working with people who are energetic. After short breaks, we were all eager to get back to work,” Sonu tells Metrolife.

Sonu is a graduate in electronics and his craze for electronic gadgets and games knows no bounds. “We also spent our  “free moments” playing games on playstations,” he adds. He is also working on ‘It’s Entertainment’, which he says is an outright comedy.

Sonu confesses that he is infatuated with action roles and also relishes all his ‘bad man’ characters every bit. He confesses that doing tough roles gives him a high. “I have always enjoyed slipping into a cop’s role. Scripts that portray real-life subjects are interesting to work on,” he notes.

Looking at the movies that he’s working on and those that are lined up, it seems like Sonu is inclined to choosing action-oriented characters. However, he clarifies, “I haven’t consciously chosen such scripts. They just come to me and if I really like it then I grab it.” He is also making a conscious attempt to get out of action-packed roles and work on projects that offer the right mix of action, comedy and romance.

Sonu is also one among the few actors from Bollywood who has been extremely successful in the Telugu film industry. “I am glad that I’ve got to work in some good projects in Telugu. I am one of the few actors from North who has made inroads in Telugu films,” he shares.

Sonu is also working on Rana with Rajnikanth. “I am not allowed to talk about the film but I am sure my experience of working with Rajni sir will be one to cherish,” he wraps up.
