Last Updated 23 January 2014, 20:53 IST

A study carried out by Stanford University on productivity of Indian institutions in social science research has found the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, the number one institution in the country in the area of ‘Business and Management’.

A number of universities in the country have been ranked in four categories namely sociology, demography and family studies; economic; psychology and lastly business and management. These rankings are based on various variables, such as the number of collaborations with foreign institutions, average number of citations of articles and number of peer-reviewed journal articles produced.

"The survey presents a comprehensive picture of where social science researchers in India are publishing. IIMB's lead over others, within the business and management research category, is an interesting quantification of the research being carried out in a wide number of areas within the Institute," said Arnab Mukherji, Assistant Professor at IIMB.
