Justice Anand Byrareddy of the Karnataka High Court on Friday rescued himself from hearing the winding up petition against UB Holdings.
Justice Byrareddy said as one of Vijay Mallya’s affiliates in a case has now engaged a law firm that employs his (judge’s) son, he was recusing himself from the hearing and referred the matter to another bench.
In a span of two months, Justice Byrareddy had admitted four winding up petitions against Vijay Mallya’s UB Group companies in favour of the creditors seeking a wind-up and liquidation of UB Holdings and Kingfisher Airlines Ltd to get back their dues.
