Mamata bats for regional languages

Banerjee was in Mumbai on November 21 to flag off the first suburban train service on Western Railway at Andheri station.  Aware of the political agenda of MNS, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan demanded that the locals must be given importance in jobs.

Banerjee reciprocated saying: “Whoever is a domicile of Maharashtra must first get employment opportunity” and declared that the exams can be written in Marathi soon. Interestingly, this comes more than a year after the MNS attacked North Indian candidates appearing for railway examinations saying they were taking away jobs of the local people.
