JOIN USWith a host of cheap cab facilities available in the City, Bangaloreans are opting for attractive packages and services offered by these private cabs. People are taking these cabs for a late night drive to the airport, for private visits and to tourist locations inside and outside the City.
Bangaloreans say that such services are provided by Ola, Maxi and Deepam among others. “If we are not satisfied with the services of one of these, we know that there are at least five others to choose from. They are prompt in their services and have a good feedback system. Therefore, we can always give our feedback if we are not happy with the services,” says Srikant, who travels by these cabs regularly.
“There are different packages for different types of cars. For instance, if a family of five or six is travelling to a destination near the City, there can choose the kind of car that is suited for them. The best part is that they are very affordable,” he adds.
Most cab services have also introduced cheaper packages — a three or a six-hour cab service, which includes waiting, costs between Rs 300 and Rs 900. There are also other packages, like a trip to the airport and back, which is within Rs 1,000. Packages are available for a drop to the airport as well. These advantages make such cabs score brownie points over Airport Taxis like Meru cabs, Mega cabs and KSTDC taxis.
Suhail, a cab driver who works with a private cab company, says that there is a huge demand for these packages. “People hardly avail the services of the Airport Taxis as other companies offer attractive rates. The packages are very popular now. Currently, we have people booking a cab for three to four hours, which sometimes includes a visit to a mall or temple, going to a restaurant for lunch with the family and returning home. I do at least three or four of these trips during the weekend. The demand for cheaper cabs increases during the weekend as people like to visit the outskirts and come back the same day,” he informs.
Youngsters too have been using these services quite frequently to attend rock and EDM festivals which are organised in the outskirts. They say that it is a safe and affordable option. “We generally avail these cab services to attend rock concerts. We take a package for five to six hours and split the cost between us. The cost includes the waiting time as well. This helps us as we want to return in the same cab after the show. None of us want to spend much on travelling as the tickets for the show are quite expensive. Having a cheap option helps us plan our finances,” says Rohan Srinivas, a student.
