Pradeep, a resident of Uttarahalli and a diploma holder, had climbed the tower behind the police station at around 3 pm threatening to jump from it.

Within no time, a large crowd gathered near the tower and the police were informed. Pradeep said his life was meaningless and wanted to kill himself. While police tried to deter him by saying committing suicide was against the law and would not end his problems, he remained adamant.

Kannada lover!

Interestingly, during this high drama Pradeep mentioned that he was an ardent admirer of the  Kannada language, which helped a police constable come up with a plan.

The constable brought a Karnataka flag and told Pradeep that since it was November, the month of Kannada Rajyotsava, he should hoist the flag atop the tower, before he killed himself. Pradeep readily agreed and was tricked into coming down to take the flag.

When he came down, the police caught him and later produced him before the magistrate.

Mentally unstable

Police said Pradeep seemed to be suffering from some psychological disorder and did not reveal why he wanted to end his  life. They added that Pradeep was in the habit of picking quarrels with his parents and friends without any reason. He had also tried to thrash some of his friends and had attempted to rob them. Police said he would be subjected to a medical test to ascertain his mental state.
