Expecting to play a crucial role in the formation of the next government after the Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav once again pitched for a “third front” and admitted that talks were on among the possible constituents.

Addressing a public meeting at Mainpuri on Thursday, Mulayam said that there would be no government at the Centre without the help of a third front.

“Neither the Congress nor the BJP will be in a position to form the next government,” he claimed.

He also dropped hints that the SP was likely to play an important role in government formation as it would emerge as the “biggest constituent” of the front after the elections.

The SP supremo said that talks were on among the possible partners in this regard. “We hope to bring all non-Congress and non-BJP parties on one platform,” he went on to say.

SP leaders here said that making Mulayam the prime minister of the country is the party’s top priority.
