On loving yourself

Last Updated 07 February 2014, 15:56 IST

Wellness is mostly the mental attitude and only partly rest and medicine. Therefore, it goes without saying, that it is important to love yourself, write Bharat & Shalan Savur.

Illness means a civil war is on inside the body. Our job is to infuse tranquil thoughts to establish peace, to infuse big-hearted loving thoughts to establish wellness.
Wellness is 99% mental attitude and 1% rest and medicine. Words spoken lovingly create a strong resolve to get well and strengthen our immunity. Loving thoughts create inner harmony. Sharing love creates inner cheer. Feeling loved creates wellness. It’s not about denying there’s an illness, but about not focussing on it and making it larger.

Feeling you lack love creates deficiencies. Fill that lack with abundance. Love is abundance. Create inner love, then distribute it freely. For you can only give what you have. Start right away:

n Silently chant a mantra that holds meaning for you, that you feel connects you to a higher way of being. Or chant “I rise in love” 100 times. Chanting rhythmises the brainwaves and the meaning you give it exalts the mind.

n Think of a happy, tender occurrence in your life and feel the love fill up, rise, overflow and spread within you, and slowly to others.

n Speak with love. Or hold your peace. When harsh critical thoughts crop up, be aware they’re your ego’s prejudices. The more you realise this, the more you see people with non-judgemental and unclouded eyes of your higher self and less from your ego’s distorted viewpoint.

n Exercise the entire body. Cycle 30 minutes to send oxygen-rich blood to every corner of the body, specifically the brain. A well-nourished brain develops a wonderful receptiveness.

n Share your love. The more you share, the more you generate it in you and the more beautiful your interactions and relationships become. Keep this awareness alive: no issues are worth disturbing the loving feeling of being with somebody. No issues are worth compromising health.

When you live out this powerful inner love story, it creates ‘memory grooves’ in the brain. It also helps immensely when you read spiritual books.
Read. Love. Heal. Triumph in wellness.
