President advised to introduce T-bill in House

A recommendation to President Pranab Mukherjee by the Union Home Ministry for introduction of the Telangana Bill in Parliament—likely on Tuesday—was on Sunday sent through the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2013 to bifurcate the state is likely to be introduced in Parliament on Tuesday, according to present indications.Home Ministry officials said the file recommending introduction of the bill in Parliament was sent to the President this evening through the PMO. “The approval of the President is expected tomorrow (Monday). We are planning to introduce the bill in Parliament on Tuesday,” a senior Home Ministry official said.

The Union Cabinet had, on Friday, approved the draft bill for creation of Telangana by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh, notwithstanding the state Assembly’s rejection of the bill.
Earlier, there was speculation that the bill was likely to be introduced in the Rajya Sabha by bringing a supplementary list of business.
