KRS police have finally identified the body of a foreign national who had drowned in the backwaters of KRS near here recently. The deceased has been identified as Tugirinana Elisatha (24) of Rwanda.

Elisatha was a student of final year BSc at Brindavan College in Bommasandra, Bangalore. He had come to KRS on February 8 on a picnick along with three of his friends Shivaprasad, Machum and Pramod.

In their statements to the police, the trio have said that Elisatha who was heavily drunk, refused to return to Banglaore on that day. Following which, they left him alone at the place.

However, on February 11, his body was found in a decomposed state in the water near Venugopala Swamy Temple. Initially, the investigators had surmised it to be a suicide case, suspecting the body to be that of a Kenyan. They had also collected the finger prints of the victim and had sent it to Kenyan High Commission in New Delhi. It later emerged as that of a Rwandan.

High Commissioner of Rwanda in New Delhi, Moocho, accompanied by consulate staff Mohan Suresh on Wednesday, visited the spot where Elisatha had drowned. They also verified the forensic reports and visited the burial ground in Mysore where the body had been buried after autopsy.

Dy SP Geetha Prasanna, Inspector Jayakumar and PSI B Puttaswamy accompanied the visiting officials in the local visit.
