The Cubbon Park police on Friday arrested a Banashankari resident who had got an advertisement published in an English daily on Valentine’s Day expressing his love for Kannada actor and Mandya member of Parliament Ramya.

The accused, Venkat who claimed to be producing a film titled ‘Hucha Venkat’, had advertised the film in an English daily. The advert stated that he was madly in love with Ramya and that he would kidnap her and marry her at the Banashankari temple.

Ramya lodged a complaint through her personal assistant and requested the police to take strict action against Venkat for using her name in a derogatory manner and without her permission.

Following directions from senior police officers, the Cubbon Park police arrested Venkat. The advertisement also stated that he would marry Ramya come what may. Its tagline claimed that his movie was based on a true story. Venkat’s parents told the police that their son was mentally disturbed because of personal problems.
