JOIN USYediyur corporator N R Ramesh on Monday filed a complaint with Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force against Shantinagar MLA N A Haris, accusing him of illegally acquiring prime land belonging to BBMP in the central business district.
Briefing reporters, he said, “Miller’s Tank bed area falling under Vasanthnagar ward belongs to BBMP and its property value is more than Rs 410 crore. However, a few people sold the land by submitting fake documents and claiming ownership of BBMP’s property. The land, spread across 1,62,261 sq ft, was divided into four parts by Gayasuddin Sharif, Farah Ullah Khan, R N Ramaiah and Lakshminarayan Charities, illegally.”
“Ramaiah, on August 17, 2006, sold a portion of the land (12,500 sq ft) by registering it in the name of Nalapad Estates and Projects, belonging to Haris, for just Rs 10.50 lakh. Followed by this, Haris submitted application to Revenue department of BBMP to seek khata in his name. The actual value of the property is Rs 125 crore,” Ramesh said.
He pointed out that in July, 2012, Bangalore Urban deputy commissioner had sent a letter to joint commissioner (east zone) stating that the Miller’s Tank bed area belongs to BBMP and since it is a government ‘B’ kharab land, it cannot be acquired by private parties.
Amidst all this, a woman by name Mujeeba Begum moved the High Court claiming that the property purchased by Haris belongs to her. Ramesh also alleged that Shravan G, son of N Govindaraju, councilor of JC Nagar ward similarly purchased land at Miller’s Tank bed area from Farah Ulla Khan. The latter created fake documents to sell the property to the councillor’s son, he added.
“I request BBMP commissioner to take action against people who sell and acquire Palike properties illegally. I will register a case against sellers and buyers involved in this scam with the Lokayukta,” Ramesh said. Haris was unavailable for comments.
