A delegation led by Samaj Parivartana Samudaya founder S R Hiremath on Tuesday submitted to the governor a 191-page document “substantiating” the involvement of Energy minister D K Shivakumar in illegal mining.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, Hiremath said Governor H R Bhardwaj had also been requested to sack Shivakumar from the Cabinet since he faced grave charges. The delegation comprised freedom fighter H S Doreswamy, N Shivakumar and K N Somashekhar of Jan Sangram Parishat.

Hiremath claimed that there were enough documents to prove the minister’s involvement in irregularities.

“Shivakumar and his brother Suresh, wife Usha looted 10.8 lakh metric tonnes of iron ore when he was minister in the then S M Krishna government. In a housing society scandal, Shivakumar made Rs three lakh crore by illegally selling sites meant for the State government employees,” he said.

Stating that another minister Roshan Baig was also involved in illegal activities, Hiremath urged the chief minister to drop the tainted ministers from the Cabinet.
