I am very much into jewellery: Konkona Sen

Speaking about the costume range in 'Kadombori', based on the life of Tagore's sister-in-law and her relations with the then-young Bard, the film's lead character Konkona Sen Sharma says she loves potraying roles steeped into traditions.

"Yes in Kadombori, I am very much into jewellery. The looks demanded the set pieces reflected the by-gone era of the late 19th-early 20th century," the Wake Up Sid actor told PTI on the sidelines of a heritage neck-wear launch programme by a leading jewellery house.

Konkona, who is the 'Face' of the chain, said "Any tradition is derived from the culture of the place and its people. And despite being contemporary we all love to be traditional."

"I loved wearing silver when I was a child but now I get to wear more and more golds, I loved Kadombori looks, the long sleeve blouse and frilled robes as I like to flaunt traditional set-pieces," she said.

Dwelling on the Bishnupur  Gold Chain looks, the actor said, "It is a cross between the Heritage and the Contemporary as the motifs are drawn from the intricately carved terracotta temples."

Konkona, who confirmed two Hindi films were in the pipeline, said she was also turning up in Tagore's Sesher Kobita, set in the picturesque Shillon, which was awaiting release.

They have designed something which is contemporary and casual but elegant at the same time," she said about the 'Golden Tributes to a Great Heritage' by the jewellers who have brought out heritage gold coins on the lines of southern temple ornaments.

Director Rupak Saha said, "Konkona had been the face of Shyam Sundar Jewellers for three years and we have bigger plans in art and entertainment segments in coming days involving her."

The gold coins adhered to the 22-carat norms set by World Gold Council, Saha, hailing from Tripura which had been part of Tagore's mindscape and literary works, said.
