More City bus services on March 4

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will observe “Bus Day” on March 4, with an aim to encourage citizens to use public transport more extensively. 

Apart from the daily operation of 6,587 schedules with 84,396 trips, arrangements have been made to extend the operation of more than 1,500 general shift schedules beyond their fixed timings, to 22 hours on Bus Day. The Day will be observed in the following corridors : Old Airport Road (ITPL) , Sarjapur Road, Hosur Road,  Bannerghatta Road, Kanakapura Road, Mysore Road, Magadi Road, Tumkur Road, Bellary Road, Thanisandra Road, Hennur Road and Old Madras Road. In addition, the BMTC has initiated several measures to improve transport services and reduce pollution.

To provide uninterrupted transport facility, especially to people residing in neighbouring villages, BMTC is implementing a new transport system. The system will ensure speedy transport from National Highways to the City through Big Trunk services.

The high frequency Big Trunk service on Hosur Road  provides transport facility from Attibele, Chandapura and Electronics City to Kempegowda Bus terminal with 64 schedules. Feeder Services are presently connecting the surrounding villages of Attibele and Chandapura to the Big Trunk services with 27 schedules. 

Also, Trunk and Feeder Services on Kanakapura corridor have been started with Big Trunk service from KR Market and Kempegowds Bus Stand to Harohalli with 21 schedules. Feeder Services are operating connecting the surrounding villages of Kaggalipura, Kengeri and Bidadi to the Big Trunk services with 21 schedules. Presently, 13 feeder schedules are being operated on Kanakapura Road.
