‘Final list of BJP candidates by March 8’

Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has alleged that the State Congress government has intentionally neglected the popular development schemes which were started during BJP tenure and achieved ‘zero development’ in 2013-14.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Yeddyurappa blamed that CM Siddaramaiah has neglected useful schemes like Suvarnabhoomi, Suvarnagrama, Pradhanmantri Gram Sadak Yojna, Ganga Kalyana and Bhagyalaxmi schemes. “We had released funds around Rs 300 crores for Suvarnabhoomi scheme, but nothing has been done during Congress tenure. Under Ganga Kalyana scheme, 10,500 borewells were drilled during 2011-12 and it was increased to 12,000 borewells in 2012-13.

But, in 2013-14 only 661 borewells have been drilled. The popular Bhagyalaxmi scheme has also been cornered by the Congress government. In 2012-13, the BJP government had distributed 2,56,470 bonds and next year it was increased to 3,99,823 bonds in 2012-13. Congress is playing politics in development works,” the former CM said.

‘BJP wave in country’

Yeddyurappa said that the UPA government is losing its popularity day-by-day and Congress government has failed in State as well. BJP has very good chances of winning. Just like Jayaprakash Narayan’s era, lakhs of youth are working for BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, he said, adding that Modi would visit State once again before nomination and rallies may be held in various places including Shimoga.

The former CM said that the state Congress is in trouble because of difference of opinion between the Chief Minister and some other leaders of the party. KPCC President Dr G Parameshwar has expressed his disappointment as no one from SC/ST community could become chief minister or deputy chief minister in State. The minority community members have also unhappy with the government. It will affect the Congress in coming elections.
‘No injustice for KJP’

He said that there is no question of letting down KJP leaders who supported him. “We have decided to forget KJP as a bad dream. Everyone who has joined BJP with me is given some responsibilities in various levels. On asked about Dhananjay Kumar, he said: “I am hurt by some of his statements. I will talk to him”.

Final list on March 8

Yeddyurappa has said that within two-three days, a list of proposed candidates will be sent to Delhi and senior leaders of the party would return the final list of candidates on March 8.

“Our aim is to win at least 20 seats in State. The party leaders have started State tour. I will contest from Shimoga as BJP’s senior leaders wanted me to contest. Present MP from Shimoga B S Raghavendra is ready to work for the party,” he said and hinted that Raghavendra may be the BJP candidate for Assembly re-election from Shikaripur.

Meanwhile, former minister Shobha Karandlaje said that she is ready to contest from Bangalore, Mysore or from Udupi- Chikmagalur, depending on the decision of senior leaders.
