Udupi district gets 4,202 applications under RTE Act

Kundapur block gets 1,045 applications while Karkala gets only 490 pleas

The Department of Public Instructions of Udupi district, has received a total of 4,202 applications under the Right to Education Act this year.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Deputy Director of Public Instructions Nagendra Madhyastha said that, as there are five education blocks in the district, the seat allocations under RTE Act is evenly made as per the allocations of seat available in each school.

A total of 4,279 seats are available in 211 unaided and 76 non-minority schools in the district, of which, the 25 per cent reservation seats is 1,072. Accordingly, as many as 490 applications have ben received in Karkala education block for the available 134 seats under reservation. 

As many as 881 applications have been received in Udupi block for 293 seats, while 1,045 applications have been received in Kundapur block for 204 seats. In Baindoor block, as many as 936 applications have been received for 160 seats.

In Brahmavar block, 850 applications have been received for 281 available seats. There are 211 unaided schools in the district, of which there are 39 schools in Karkala, 65 in  Udupi, 38 in Kundapur, 30 in Baindoor and 39 in Brahmavar.

There are 76 non-minority unaided schools, of which there are 13 in Karkala, 20 in Udupi, 15 in Kundapur, 11 in Baindoor and 17 in Brahmavar. The number of applications received for LKG seats comprises of 490 in Karkala, 881 in Udupi, 1,045 in Kundapur, 579 in Baindoor and 850 in Brahmavar. 

While 357 applications have been submitted in Baindoor block for getting admission to I standard, as many as 1,001 seats are available in LKG section and 71 seats are available for I standard in the district.
