Kiran Reddy to bank on APNGOs

Last Updated 07 March 2014, 20:17 IST

Kiran Kumar Reddy’s yet-to-be-born party hopes to garner support from the APNGOs, an umbrella organisation of over 5 lakh Seemandhra government employees, which has spearheaded the Samaikayndhra agitation for over two months.

“At least 50 per cent of the seats will be offered to the employees' leaders, if they want, as they have sacrificed a lot during the agitation,” said Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, who has been expelled by the Congress.

However, there are no clear indications whether APNGO chief Ashok Babu will join the party launched by Reddy, who was once rumoured to be the person behind the meteoric rise of Ashok Babu.

“It is a known fact that the APNGOs withdrew their strike as per the directions of Kiran Kumar Reddy,” observed a Congress leader from Seemandhra.

Kiran Reddy hopes that giving seats to government employees, including the influential teaching community, will have a multiplier effect, as not much time is left for the new party to embark on massive propaganda.
