9-yr-old repeatedly raped

A nine-year-old girl was allegedly repeatedly raped by her neighbour in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar. The accused was arrested on Friday after the matter came to light.

The 29-year-old accused Umesh, an electrician by profession, would repeatedly take the victim to his home on some pretext or the other for the last two to three months and rape her there. To continue with his act, he allegedly would give the victim small amounts of cash and chocolates.

The victim’s mother noticed Umesh taking the girl to his house on Friday afternoon.

The suspicious woman rescued her daughter from the accused and took her home. When the family questioned the victim, she revealed that Umesh would offer her chocolates and money and rape her every other day.

He would even indulge the girl in talks on sexual subjects.

The victim is a class four student in a government school and lives with her parents in New Ashok Nagar. Her father works in a private company.

Following a police complaint, the accused was arrested from his residence that very day.

Police said Umesh was committing the rape at his home in the absence of his wife. She is at her parents’ home at Buxar in Bihar for the past few months and Umesh took advantage of her absence.
