The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, is likely to undertake a one-day whirlwind visit of the State before the Lok Sabha elections are held here on April 17.

The party’s State leaders have requested Modi to visit Karnataka at least once before the polling, sources in the BJP said.

The BJP’s core committee which met on Tuesday decided that the preferable date for Modi’s visit would be March 31. The Gujarat chief minister has promised to reply to the proposal soon, the sources added.

The party has shortlisted Belgaum, Bagalkot, Mysore and Shimoga or Bangalore as likely venues for Modi’s public conventions. Modi addressed election rallies in Bangalore, Mangalore, Hubli, Gulbarga and Davangere in the last few months.

Senior BJP leaders L K Advani, Rajnath Singh, Yeshwant Sinha and Sushma Swaraj will also address election rallies in the State in the coming days.
