Striking a balance

While some students are particular about wearing what’s in vogue, others prefer to go by what suits them best. However, they emphasise the importance of being comfortable to be able to flaunt the look. Four students speak to Metrolife about the trends on campus.

Babitha V
A final-year MBA student of New Horizon College of Engineering, wore a green and black top from Jealous, slim fit blue jeans from Lee and a pair of ballerina shoes from Bata. She coupled it with some bangles and a neckpiece.
I am brand-conscious just like those around me. But it’s always comfort that comes before style. I believe that one can only flaunt the look if they’re comfortable in it. Accessories are an important part of an outfit since they accentuate the entire look.

Syed Mohammed
A final-year BBM student of New Horizon College of Engineering, wore a black T-shirt from Billabong with a red checked shirt from Esprit and blue jeans from US Design. A pair of white Nike sneakers completed the look.
My style statement is simplicity. I never look at what others are wearing and choose my own clothes. It’s important for each person to dress according to his style and comfort. I go in for quality rather than quantity and that comes with branded clothes. I usually pick my clothes based on my mood.

Hiral Patel
An MBA student of ISME, wore a grey T-shirt and blue jeans from Levis with a pair of black slip-ons.
I don’t follow the crowd and go with what I think suits me best. But I still keep track of the latest styles through magazines. I tend to be biased towards branded clothes. I usually go in for branded clothes because I find their fitting and look good.

Shama Hasrat
A PGDM student of ISBR, wore a blue top from Lifestyle, jeans from Jennifer and a pair of black heels. A neckpiece completed the look.
I’m comfortable in both Indian and Western wear. I sometimes spend up to Rs 7,000-8000 on clothes. When I really like something, I buy it irrespective of the price. I prefer sporting accessories when I wear ethnic wear. I generally go in for something simple and small. I closely follow what actresses are wearing to know what’s in trend.
