Only nursing councils can permit colleges: HC

Last Updated 03 December 2009, 17:05 IST

The petitioner - KSNC, has moved the HC against Bharath Sewak Sangh, a Thiruvananthapuram-based institute, which is writing to various institutes offering affiliation of nursing courses, stating that it is authorised to do so. It sought a direction against them. Justice Mohan Shantanagowdar directed the institutes to obtain permission only from two authorised institutes.

KUDD rapped

The HC has rapped the Karnataka Urban Development Department (KUDD) over the bungling in transfer of an AEE in Mysore.

S R Purushottam was promoted as an AEE to the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board, while another person from Chitradurga too was posted to the same place.

When Purushottam challenged the issue before the HC, the under-secretary of KUDD submitted that the secretary is busy with meetings on flood relief measures. Justice Ram Mohan Reddy who heard the matter observed that two persons cannot occupy same place therefore the mischief lies in UDD. “The under-secretary says nothing in court except seeking time,” the court observed.
