BU plans hostel for N-E girls

Bangalore University is planning to construct a hostel for girl students from the Northeast at a cost of Rs 15 crore.

Briefing reporters on the sidelines of Academic Council meet on Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor Prof B Thimme Gowda said they would get funds from the North Eastern Council.

Besides a Golden Jubilee building, the university is also planning to fix CCTVs for safety of students. The university will also introduce one-year LLM course from this year.

The 25 local inquiry committes, constituted to look into affiliation of colleges, has recommended 30 colleges for the same. As many as 550 colleges were inspected (excluding BEd colleges), out of which 41 colleges had applied for fresh affiliation.
