Final year students of Ayurvedic courses on Friday protested against Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) denying them permission to write the examination.

Students who have backlog papers from their first year have been requesting the university to give them opportunity to take the exam this time.

For batches before 2012, there are four attempts to clear the exam, as per regulations.
RGUHS Vice Chancellor Sriprakash said the university was not in a position to help the students as they had exhausted all their attempts. Seeking an opportunity to clear their first year papers, the students had approached the High Court last year.

On December 31, 2013, a High Court bench ordered: “Subject to permission by Vice Chancellor, the petitioners shall be permitted to take the examination for I Year BAMS professional course.”

Following this, students were permitted to take the exam in December but several could not appear as there was a delay in issuing hall tickets, according to the students. Now, they have sought permission, Prof Bhusanur Math of Ashwini Ayurvedic Medical College, Tumkur, said.
