Dhruvanarayan files nomination

Confident of being re-elected from Chamarajanagar constituency

Sitting MP R Dhruvanarayan filed his nomination papers as the Congress party candidate, here, on Saturday.

Dhruvanarayan, along with Revenue Minister V Sreenivas Prasad and Cooperation Minister H S Mahadev Prasad, in a rally to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He filed the nomination in four sets.

Speaking after filing his nomination, Dhruvanarayan expressed confidence of being re-elected for the second term from the constituency. “I have served the constituency well, during the last five years. I hope that the voters trust me and elect me again,” he said.

Commenting on the allegations made by opposition parties, that leaders of Dalit communities are being ignored by the Congress, he said, such allegations were mere rumours. “Such discontent does not exist in the party,” he said.

Poll code violation

Hundreds of Congress party men thronged the DC’s office while Dhruvanarayan file the nomination papers, even though there is a rule that only five persons, including the candidate, could enter office of the Electoral Officer.

While Prohibitory Orders were in place for 100 metres around the DC’s office, the police could not control the supporters. The situation worsened when Dhruvanarayan, along with Sreenivas Prasad and Mahadev Prasad, arrived, as party workers mobbed the leaders to shake hands with them.
