Sporting Clube de Goa scored a 2-1 win over Rangdajied United FC in a rescheduled I-League match at the JN Stadium here on Wednesday.

The Flaming Oranje scored once in each half through Rowllin Borges and Cajetan Fernandes while Ranti Martins pulled one back for Rangdajied in the 90th minute.

Rangdajied had won four of their last five contests prior to this game, including three at home. However, they dished out a listless display as Sporting crafted an effortless win.

The match was a fairly even affair until Sporting took the lead in the 27th minute. Kalu Ogba fed the ball forward which Rangdajied goalkeeper Surjay Kumar Pariyar parried away from the edge of the box.

However, the ball fell straight to Borges, who lobbed home from long range.

The hosts’ only half chance in the first half came in the sixth minute when a chip by Steven Dias forced Sporting’s keeper Melroy Fernandes to put the ball out for a corner.

A Munmun Lugun handball just outside the Rangdajied box on the hour mark proved fatal as Cajetan made it 2-0 in favour of the visitors, whipping the resultant freekick home.

With the backs to the wall, Rangdajied pushed hard at Sporting but the visitors held firm until the last minute of the game when Martin scored a consolation goal.
