Liquor, cash seized

The spate of seizure of cash and other items being transported without any valid documents ahead of the Lok Sabha polls continued on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, Officer on Special Duty (Expenditure and Monitoring) V Ponnuraj said Rs 2.42 lakh in cash was seized in Raichur with the arrest of a person. 

Similarly, Rs 5.84 lakh in cash was seized in Ramanagar while two persons who were transporting Rs 13.3 lakh in cash were arrested in Gadag. In Bellary, 150 bottles of liquor worth Rs 80,000 were seized. 

20 cases booked

As many as 20 cases were booked for misuse of vehicles, 16 for holding processions without permission, 19 under the Prevention of Disfigurement Act and 256 cases for distribution of cash, Ponnuraj said.
