Sparing the bull from the list of animals prohibited from exhibition or training for the purpose of performance, the Centre has ensured the conduct of Jallikattu, the traditional bullfight event in Tamil Nadu.
In an affidavit, the Centre told the Supreme Court that it has removed the bull from the list of animals not to be exhibited or trained as performing animals keeping in mind historic, cultural and religious significance of Jallikattu.
The response was filed by M Geetanjali, secretary of Ministry of Environment and Forest in a pending petition seeking its ban.
