Police are looking out for an alcoholic who is suspected to have strangled his 26-year-old wife at their home in Muthaya Layout in Kamakshipalya on Saturday night, after she refused to give him money for liquor.
Vishwanath, 30, a factory worker, allegedly strangled his wife, Meenakshi, with a waist thread following a quarrel, police said.
Meenakshi’s relatives alleged that the couple frequently fought over domestic issues, especially after Vishwanath would get drunk.
According to neighbours, the couple had fought on Saturday. Vishwanath demanded money for liquor but Meenakshi refused, after which he reportedly murdered her.The waist thread was found on the murder spot.
The couple’s two children live with their maternal uncle in Hassan, Meenakshi’s hometown. Police have registered a case of murder and are pursuing Vishwanath who is reportedly absconding.
