Komal takes home U-9 championship

Bangalore’s Komal Srivastav Sajja clinched the boys’ title in the Karnataka State under-9 chess championship at the Sarkari Naukarara Bhavana here on Monday.

Komal finished with 8.5 points from nine rounds, while top seed Pranav Anand finished second with eight points.

In the girls’ category, local lass Spandana M Raikar was crowned the champion after finishing with 6.5 points from seven rounds.
