Mahindra Navistar to launch trucks in India soon

The heavy commercial vehicles with tonnages varying between 35-49 tonnes will have MaxxForce 7.2 diesel engines manufactured at M&M’s Chakan plant.

Mahindra & Mahindra President (Automobile Sector) Pavan Goenka said a total of Rs 500 crore will be invested on the manufacture of MaxxForce engines and trucks, adding that the joint venture will also launch rear engine buses for Indian markets in 2011.

MNAL is planning a capital expenditure of Rs 1,200 crore at Chakan project and M&M will raise fund for its part of investment –— Rs 600 crore —– through a mix of equity and debt, he informed.

Meanwhile, Mahindra Navistar Engines Private Ltd, another joint venture between M&M and Navistar announced the launch of MaxxForce 7.2 diesel engine here. The four-valve engine which complies with BS-III emission norms has been designed for medium and heavy commercial vehicles, said Dee Kapur, President, Navistar Truck Group.
