Painter run over by goods vehicle

A 47-year-old painter died when a goods vehicle ran him over near Kodigehalli Gate on Bellary Road, under Yelahanka traffic police limits, on Saturday night.

Muni Pillappa, a resident of Jakkur Layout, was walking in an inebriated state near a parking lot for goods vehicles when a tempo, which was reversing, struck him. He collapsed on the ground with severe head injuries. Passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Chethan, 26, the driver of the goods vehicle who hails from Andhra Pradesh, had come to deliver a consignment of chikoo fruits at the City Market.

After the job, he had reached the parking lot to leave the goods vehicle there. Police have arrested Pillappa and seized the goods vehicle.
