More compensation sought for Kabeer's kin

In a protest against the killing of Kabeer by Anti-Naxal Force personnel at Thanikodu check post in Sringeri on Saturday, leaders of Komu Souharda Vedike demanded suspension of ANF personnel responsible for the killing.

They demanded the government to hand over the case to the CBI and also increase the compensation amount offered to Kabeer’s family.

Addressing the protesters in Sringeri on Thursday, social activist Kalkuli Vittal Hegde said had the ANF personnel been booked for murder in the incidents of atrocity against tribal communities in the past, the ‘encounter’ would not have happened in Thanikodu.

‘Misdeeds will continue’

If the government fails to take strict action, the ANF will continue its misdeeds, he said.
