Rahul slams Modi in his backyard

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi launched a direct attack on BJP prime ministerial candidate Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on his home turf on Saturday, saying the BJP's prime ministerial candidate projects only himself to party seniors as well as to Gujarat, whose development model is nothing but a sell-out to select industrial groups at the cost of farmers and the poor.

Addressing election rallies in the Saurashtra and Panchmahal regions, the Gandhi scion said Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L K Advani, Jaswant Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Yashwant Sinha had all been stacked on one side of the power scale in the BJP, with Modi and the Adani Group on the other.
“Modi is in league” with the Adani Group and doling out Gujarat's precious resources to one company at the cost of  the sweat and toil of the people, he said.

“You call this the Gujarat development model when you usurp fertile lands of farmers and divert electricity  to one industrial group?” he asked.

“This is a Modi model, not the Gujarat model. The Gujarat model was the one evolved by Mahatma Gandhi. Here, small-scale industries built  themselves brick by brick, and not select ones that grew in no time out of the blue,” said Rahul.
