Bus mows down man

A 33-year-old man discharged from a hospital and heading home was mowed down by a private bus near Lady Curzon Road in Shivajinagar on Sunday.

According to police, Basavaraj, a native of Bidadi was admitted at Bowring Hospital for some ailment four days ago. 

He was discharged on Sunday noon and went to a nearby hotel for lunch along with his brother-in-law, Santosh. 

Both came out of the hotel and were walking on the roadside when a private bus moving in the reverse direction knocked him down, killing him on the spot. Passersby informed the police, who seized the bus and arrested Gururaj, the driver of the vehicle.

Police said that Gururaj was looking for a parking space when the accident occurred. Shivajinagar police have registered a case.

Cashier waylaid

Two miscreants robbed a cashier of Rs 1.35 lakh in cash near Yellukunte in HSR Layout police limits on Saturday night. According to police, Madhusudhan, a cashier-cum-manager with Bhagya Spirit Zone in Electronics City was returning home on his two-wheeler after closing down the shop when a drunk man came in the way of his bike. 

Even as he stopped his two-wheeler, two men appeared on the scene, one of them wielding a machete. They threatened Madhusudhan, robbed him of Rs 1.35 lakh cash he was carrying and other valuables on his person. 

A police official said that the case appeared to be “tricky” and there was something fishy about the incident. 

“We will question the complainant further to get more details about the incident,” he said.
