Rs 2 crore worth materials damaged in fire accident

Second mishap in Cauvery outlet in the last two months

According to the police, the incident occurred around 3 am. A security guard, who noticed the fire inside the building, informed the police who passed on the message to fire force personnel. Three fire tenders rushed to the spot and struggled for hours to put off the fire.
The outlet manager, Mohammed said he was not sure what caused the fire. The police said the extent of damage was yet to be ascertained, but a preliminary investigation revealed that short circuit might have led to the blaze.
The property destroyed included furniture and gold items. On April 1, a similar fire mishap was reported from Cauvery Arts and Crafts Emporium, at the MG Road-Brigade Road junction.
The place was partially gutted in the fire, which broke out just after the emporium closed at around 8.15 pm.
The emporium employees said a large number of paper macho items, Channapatna toys, carpets and fabric items were destroyed in the incident.
