Baba Ramdev booked under Atrocities Act

The Ulsoorgate police on Monday registered a case against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev for his alleged derogatory remark against Dalits.

Dalita Sangharshana Samithi convenor Mavalli Shankar made a complaint against Ramdev alleging that his statement had hurt the sentiments of Dalits. 

Ramdev recently had stated that Rahul Gandhi goes to houses of dalits for honeymoon and picnic. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989, police said.

Protests

Various pro-Dalit organisations staged protests in the City against Baba Ramdev for what they were described as derogatory remarks against the community.Bangalore City District Congress Committee said that Ramdev was acting as an agent of the Bharatiya Janata Party and not as a spiritual leader. It also condemned the BJP and alleged that the party supported him.
