JOIN USA day after acknowledging his relationship with TV anchor Amrita Rai on microblogging website Twitter, AICC state in-charge Digvijay Singh, 67, put up a brave face and said he had no reason to be secretive.
“I have no reason whatsoever to keep the affair under wraps,” Digvijay said in response to a question on how he could criticise Narendra Modi’s marital status given his relationship with Rai, who is still married.
Digvijay was at Gandhi Bhavan to review arrangements for Congress party president Sonia Gandhi’s public meeting in Guntur on Friday. “I am not like Modi who kept his marriage away from the public eye for years. I have nothing to hide. I am not a coward and am ready to face any consequences,” he said.
The AICC general secretary asserted that Amrita is waiting for the completion of her divorce proceedings to formalise her relationship with him. “After that process is over, we will get married,” he said. Digvijay was earlier married to Asha Singh, who passed away in February last year after a long battle with cancer.
