<p>Five policemen were injured here, one of them seriously, when hundreds of locals attacked the personnel while staging a road blockade over frequent power cuts.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The incident took place late last night when residents from Pragati Nagar took to the streets around 9.30 PM to protest power cuts there since a last few days and staged a spontaneous rasta roko disrupting traffic in the area, police said today.<br /><br />When a police team arrived on the scene to disperse them, irked locals began pelting stones leaving five cops including a PSI injured.<br /><br />Following this, police fired a couple of rounds in the air to quell the mob and canecharged them.<br /><br />No local was injured in the police action.<br /><br />The police constable, who was badly wounded was identified as Firoz Tadvi, and was admitted to a local hospital, they said.<br /><br />As many as 34 persons were arrested in this connection and the mob was booked under section 307 of the IPC besides being charged for rioting, police added.</p>
