District adminstration takes measure to tackle water problem

The District Administration has taken steps to tackle the water crisis affecting various parts of the district. In order to manage complaints on water supply, control rooms have been set up at taluk levels, said Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat K H Narasimhamurthy.

The control rooms will have to address grievances regarding water supply.

Besides, the control rooms have been directed to submit details of the number of complaints lodged and measures taken to the ZP office by evening everyday.

Every Friday, compiled information from all taluks will be sent to the State government. Taluk-level nodal officers have been deputed to look into the issues regarding water supply.

Moreover, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (Cesc) officials have been instructed to provide power supply to borewells wherever necessary.

Instructions have also been sent to the ZP Executive Engineer to come up with an action plan for drinking water supply to affected regions.

Funds amounting to Rs 5.5 crore, of which Rs 2 crore is provided by the Deputy Commissioner’s office and Rs 3.5 crore by the ZP have been set aside for the purpose.

In order to address the problem of fodder scarcity for cattle, two goshaalas will be set up under every Assembly constituency by May 10, he said.
