Exit polls predict big chunk of seats for BJP in State

Exit polls on Monday indicated that the BJP may get a bulk of 28 seats in Karnataka, with the saffron party predicted to garner at least 18 seats in the just-concluded Lok Sabha polls.

According to the exit polls, the ruling Congress is likely to improve its tally to 10 but would not be able to surpass the BJP. Janata Dal (Secular) is likely to settle for just 2 seats.

As per the exit polls results announced by various television channels and agencies, the Congress has failed to repeat its last Assembly election performance in the Lok Sabha polls.

Though the BJP faced drubbing in the last Assembly polls, this time, the saffron party will reach close to the last Lok Sabha results tally of 19 or even do better than that.

‘Setback for Siddu’

If the exit polls prove accurate, it will be a huge setback for the Siddaramaiah-led government in the State, as the party high command reposed much faith in him, expecting the State leadership to repeat the Assembly results in the Lok Sabha with more than 20 seats.

The Congress, which won 6 seats in the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, is likely to settle for around 10 seats this time.

Though the Janata Dal (Secular) won three seats in the 2009 polls, this time, it will get maximum two seats, that too only in southern Karnataka, said the survey.
