The party leaders, at a meeting of the presidents of the local committees on Thursday, called upon the cadres to dedicate themselves for the campaign.

The party, keen on having its representative in local bodies of Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts, is banking on the alleged “far-from-people” image of the sitting Congress MLC, Naseer Ahmed.

“There are no elected representatives in local bodies, except Kolar Gold Fields and Malur. The victory of the party candidate in the elections will thus provide an impetus to strengthen the party at the grassroots,” the leaders opined in the meeting.

“We are already on the threshold of victory. We have to enlighten the electorate on the programmes initiated by the BJP government in the State and the failures of present MLC,” candidate Surendra Gowda said.

He said that he would now talk to representatives of Gram Panchayats.
Legislator Krishnaiah Setty said that Naseer Ahmed should be taught a lesson by meting out electoral defeat.

District BJP unit president S N Sriram, legislator Y Sampangi, D S Veeraiah, Munirathnam Naidu, one of the party observers Purnima Prakash exuded confidence of victory in the elections. All the leaders were unanimous in targeting the “poor public exposure” of the Naseer Ahmed.

The marathon meeting which lasted up to noon deliberated on the strategies to be adopted for sure victory in the elections.

Srinivaspur taluk unit president B V Shivareddy, district unit general secretary Lakshmaiah, Prabhdev Kaggal, Pramila Mallikarjun and others were present.
