Bangalore Police arrested notorious gangster Kunigal Giri alias “Boss” and his three associates for allegedly plotting to murder Andhra Pradesh legislator and controversial MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.

While reports from Hyderabad said the gang’s target was Owaisi, Bangalore’s Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Hemanth Nimbalkar, who led the team, said they only have information that the suspects had plans to attack an AP leader.Sources close to Owaisi suspect the role of a real estate businessman from Begumbazar area in Hyderabad in giving supari to kill the MLA.

Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar told the media that Giri masterminded a plot to murder a prominent politician of Andhra Pradesh to make a name in the underworld at “international level”. Giri’s gang was involved in as many as 88 heinous offences, including kidnap, extortion, robbery, dacoity, intimidation, assault on officials in and around Bangalore.

The police team, which was tipped off about the gang’s movement in Hindupur, rushed there. Giri, who learnt about the police plans, tried to escape from the cops on a bike. But he collided with a truck on the highway and sustained injuries on his legs.
