JOIN USDelhi University is making the admission process for the upcoming session disabled-friendly.
The university’s Equal Opportunity Cell will provide counselling to the students with disabilities, as well as help them in filling the admission forms, said joint dean of students’ welfare, Malay Neerav on Monday. He said all colleges have been asked to set up a help desk exclusively for the differently-abled students.
DU has also decided to provide free transportation facility to the admission centers in north campus.
E-rickshaws are likely to be hired for ferrying students from the university Metro station to the admission centres, said university officials. The admission process for the FYUP courses for the new academic year will begin from June 2.
The university guidelines for calculating the best of four aggregate, based on which admission is granted, will remain same for all students as per eligibility criteria.
The university said three per cent of seats in all undergraduate courses are reserved for students with physical disability.So one per cent of seats would go to each of the three differently-abled categories.
The colleges will conduct the admission process at the ground floor. The students with physical disability will also be able to get help from NCC volunteers. They can ask for wheelchairs, said the university.
