Shiroor seer performs Bhattha Muhurtha

Seer offered prayers to the presiding deity and varieties of cereals inside the Shiroor mutt before taking procession round the Car Street with ‘Bhatthada mudi,’ husk bags containing paddy.

Later, he offered pooja to deities within the Krishna mutt premises. He offered prayers to the ‘Madhwavadiraja peetha,’ ‘Subhramanya,’ ‘Navagraha’ and ‘Brinndavan’ before entering Krishna temple.

‘Bhatthada Mudi’ was brought in a golden palanquin before the Krishna mutt and was taken in a procession to the ‘Badagumalige,’ where rituals were performed to the paddy bags.
Paddy bags were kept in ‘pattada mancha’ in the Badagumalige and prayers were offered.
‘Dhana’ was offered to the Dewans of Madhwa math on the occasion, which marked the end of the ceremony.

Shiroor mutt seer who proceeds for the pilgrimage tour to visit sacred worship places within the country will ascend the ‘Paryaya’ throne on January 18 to perform Krishna Pooja’ and run the administration for the next two years under biennial Paryaya system.

MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Dakshina Kannada Sahithya Parishath President Pradeep Kalkura, Harikrishna Punaroor, Industrialist Pramodh Madhvaraj, Jayakrishna Shetty, Sudhaker Shetty, Tallur Shivaram Shetty and others were present.
