Ram temple a non-issue, says Uddhav

The Shiv Sena, whose founder Bal Thackeray took pride in the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, on Tuesday said Ram temple was no longer an issue for the party.

Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray made this revelation at a press conference here.

“We have never spoken for Ram Mandir. We have been votaries of Hindutva which means nationalism,” Thackeray said in reply to a question on whether building a grand Ram Temple was on the agenda as the BJP has got a majority on its own.

Asked about the NDA government’s approach to Pakistan, Thackeray said the Modi government should follow a “tit for tat” policy.

“If Pakistan behaves properly with us, then it is alright. But if it creates trouble, then we should teach it a lesson,” he said.
