Poll campaigning picks up pace

Congress-JD(S) pact making all out efforts to woo voters

Leader of the Opposition at the Assembly Siddaramaiah is arriving at Kolar to deliver the key note address at the campaign meeting organised on Dec 12 at Kolar.

The meet  will be held at Pavan College ground in the outskirts of the City at 10 am. Minister K H Muniyappa will inaugurate the meet and district Congress Committee president N S Bissegowda will preside.

MLC V R Sudarshan, legislators Shivashankar Reddy, N Sampangi, M Narayana swamy, Amaresh, Chikkaballapur zilla panchayth president Vinutha, vice-president Chendur Venkatesh, Kolar ZP members J Krishna Singh, KPCC district in charge C R Narayanappa and several former minister and legislators will be participating in the campaign.

Meanwhile on Thursday JD(S) district unit had organised a meeting of the elected representatives and leaders at Chikkaballapur to campaign for Nazir Ahmed, who is the candidate for Cong-JD(S) pact. 

Speaking on the occasion Nazir Ahmed said if Congress and JD(S) had got into a pact before the by-election, both the parties could have won all the seats. The pact made between Sonia Gandhi, H D Deve Gowda, Ghulam Nabi Azad and H D Kumaraswamy at New Delhi will  ensure development in the State, he said.

Coming down heavily on Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa that he “ fell at the feet of leaders at Delhi to retain his position and what development can one expect from him?”, Nazir  asked.

‘Going with BJP a mistake’

MLA K P Bache Gowda said it was a mistake to strike alliance with BJP  once and the mistake resulted in bringing BJP to power. Now, to avoid future mistakes and to keep away communal forces COngress and JD(S) have made a pact which will prove successful”, he said.

G K Venkatashivareddy of Srinivaspur said H D Kumaraswamy should be made a union minister.

Former legislator Jyothi Reddy of Gowribidanur said Nazir Ahmed will be launching several industries in the district to tackle the problem of unemployment. Bagepalli JD(S) leader D J Nagaraja Reddy advised Nazir Ahmed to share the problems of the public after winning the election and not disappear.

Former minister Krishna Reddy, KMF director K V Nagaraj, ZP member G R Narayana Swamy also spoke at the meet. Several other leaders were present on the occasion.
At Srinivaspur, MLA Venkatashiva Reddy addressing a campaign meet  on Friday appealed to the public to elect Nazir Ahmed. He termed the ruling BJP totally corrupt and making the lives of the poor unbearable. Hence appealed to elect Cong-JD(S) candidate.
ZP president M Srinivasan, member G Rajanna also appealed to elect Nazir Ahmed.
TP president Srinivas, taluk JD(S) president B G Syed Khader, APMC president Somashekhar Reddy and others were present.

At a campaign meeting at Kolar Indian Republican Party State president M Venkataswamy appealed to the pubic to elect Nazir Ahmed because “the ruling  BJP government is communal and is sowing the seeds of communal hatredness across the State. Development has come to a stand-still and corruption is ruling the day. The fllod and drought affected are not yet given comapensation.  Electing Nazir Ahmed will be a good choice”, he said.

‘Elect the efficient’

Meanwhile, social activist Gowri has appealed to the people to elect “only efficient candidate, who will actively strive towards the development of the constitution”.
